The main component of ceramic shot is zirconia, which is primarily used for processes such as sand blasting and shot peening. The manufacture of ceramic shot involves the conversion of high-quality imported zircon sand into liquid at a higher temperature, and the spraying of that into balls.
To make sure this process results in the desired shape and size, the final product is filtered and magnetically separated through sieving, resulting in an evenly-sized product with a high level of roundness and strength. This ensures that during sandblasting,a brighter surface finish is achieved without the workpiece changing in color.
These spherical particles of ceramic shot are suitable for a variety of uses, including sandblasting and surface treatment for aviation parts and stainless steel plates,as well as for many other items such as medical devices,mobile phones/laptops, automotive chassis/engines, sports equipment and other materials.
Features:
High strength and wear resistance, the main component of ceramic shot is zirconia, characterized by small crystal size and high wear resistance. Ceramic shot has a Vickers hardness (microhardness) of 700hv and a Rockwell hardness of 600hrc. The density and specific gravity are much higher than those of glass beads, which proves its high hardness.
The high abrasion resistance, strength, and lack of dust make it difficult for any ceramic shot to crack during sandblasting. The surface finish obtained after sandblasting is high, with a smooth finish that creates a bright surface luster. Furthermore, the amount used of the same specification is 60-70% lower than that of glass bead sandblasting.
Ceramic shot can be used for various metals and nonmetals, such as titanium alloy, magnesium alloy, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, carbon steel, brass and alloy, acrylic, plastic, and more, without creating a reaction or oxidation with the metal, and no metal residue, leaving the natural color of the workpiece unchanged.
It is suitable for dry blasting or wet blasting with low wear on the machine. Ceramic shot has high sandblasting efficiency and a long service life of up to 25 times that of glass beads. In addition, the roundness of the ball is high, and there is a low chance that an abnormal ball or snowman ball will get stuck between the spheres.
